Experience

Our staff brings extensive experience in the consulting engineering field. Upon graduation from the University of Waterloo in 1979 Mr. Rood worked full time with McGeorge and Barry Consulting Engineers in Chatham. Other than a short hiatus working as a project supervisor in Sarnia, the next 10 years were spent primarily involved with the survey, design and plan preparation for drainage work in Dover, Chatham and Raleigh Townships (now Chatham-Kent) including open and covered drains, pump systems, bridges, embankments and other infrastructure work, including projects for the City of Chatham. Since 1990 we have been serving clients across Essex County with the majority of the time being dedicated to drainage projects while working with N.J. Peralta Engineering and since 2011 with Rood Engineering Inc. Work has included reports for simple new bridge projects to multiple bridge replacements on a Municipal drain, to major covered and open drain projects including bank stabilization works. Reports have also been prepared for subsequent connections and updated maintenance schedules of assessment. Other projects include new and replacement watermains and infrastructure related to new development and storm water management and drainage for greenhouse and commercial development.

Company junior staff has experience since 2020 with field survey, construction inspection and drafting work. We make effective and efficient use of survey subcontractors, construction inspectors and engineering specialists when necessary. We pride ourselves on close liaison and coordination with Municipal staff and affected authorities throughout the course of projects endeavoring to work as a team. This ensures that all matters that need to be addressed are accounted for prior to completing the drainage report or project design and carrying out of the construction. Consequently the risk of unforeseen circumstances arising is minimized and thereby reduces the potential for extra work and costs to a project.
